Greenup Man Killed In US 40 Collision Near Marshall
A 75 year old Greenup man, Earl Fogelman, died in a two vehicle crash near the west Marshall turnoff on US 40. The other driver, Earl Robb, had only a social security card for ID. Three passengers in the Fogelman car were hospitalized in Paris. Local artist Doris Ennis won first in regional art shows for Morning Solitude. Paxton Link of Paris also took a top prize in collage. Ennis’ work advances to statewide competition at Urbana with exhibits Sept 23 to Oct 9.

The American Legion Auxiliary hosted 25 veterans from Danville hospital and Burnside Nursing home for a Lincoln Trail Park picnic. About 61 attendees enjoyed fried chicken, ham, and pies. The group played games, spoke with Auxiliary members, and leadership included Mrs. Opal Murphy as president and Mrs. Edith Cooper as activity chair.

Young angler reels 39 inch musk at Allequash Lake
David Nash Hook’s musk surpassed expectations by reaching 39 inches and 14 pounds 10 ounces in fifteen minutes on Allequash Lake while fishing with his father Bucktail lures were used. The catch was registered at Rays Sport Shop and the Nash family vacationed at Ray Keister’s Resort in Boulder Junction Wisconsin.

Marion Gard age 48 of Route 2 West Union died at 8:30 Monday morning at home. He was a partner in Gard Bros Anhydrous Distributors and former commander of Marshall American Legion Post 90. Surviving: widow a daughter Vickey son Herbert a sister Elizabeth Scott and two brothers Dan and Frank. Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Prust Hosch Funeral Chapel with Rev H J Kemp officiating. Burial in Marshall cemetery. Marshall American Legion Post 90 conducted graveside rites.

William S Williamson IV, son of Mr and Mrs William PooVovreese, at Wheelers Air Force Base in Libya, used a ham radio relay to speak with his parents in New Jersey and Paris time. He plans to return to the United States next June and noted Africa’s weather as Paris-like but drier and hotter.
