Fair Program For Next Week At Clark County Fair

The 1964 Clark County Fair will feature its 17th annual night harness and running horse races from Sunday night August 9 through Thursday August 13. Race details include various stakes, non-winner and age divisions, and a Clark County Derby. The 4-H show runs daily with judging and livestock events, plus a Friday tractor contest climax. Elizabeth Anne Lee and Richard Bandy announce their engagement and upcoming marriage for August 10 in Aztec New Mexico.

Marshall Teen Enlists in Air Force for Four Years

Arthur W Hollenbeck age 19 son of Mr and Mrs Wayne Hollenbeck 502 North Sixth Street Marshall enlisted in the United States Air Force for four years assigned to the electronic field will take basic training at Lackland Air Force Base Texas Hollenbeck graduated in 1963 from Marshall high school. Stores to Close for Clark County Fair Support

The Marshall Chamber of Commerce urges merchants to close at least two afternoons to attend the Clark County Fair. No fixed days due to varying interests, but Thursday afternoon appears favored by most. Support the fair.

Crusade for Christ at Memorial Stadium in Terre Haute

The Valley Christian Crusade runs August 16 to 28 at Memorial Stadium Terre Haute open to the public. Jim McKowen Indianapolis pastor will speak nightly with a 100 voice choir led by Marvin Swartz Minnesota Bible College professor. Seventeen Wabash Valley churches sponsor the cooperative effort reaching Sullivan Brazil Rockville and other towns.

Clark County 4 H Livestock Auction Set for Aug 12

About $15 000 worth of 4 H market steers hogs and lambs will sell at the Clark County 4 H live stock auction on Wednesday August 12 at 4 00 pm at the 4 H barn on the Marshall fairground. Chambers of Commerce of Casey Martinsville and Marshall endorse the sale and note buyers may sponsor an animal. Arrangements will deliver purchased animals to a local processing plant or to market. Last year 50 steers 83 hogs and 12 lambs brought in 15259 66.

Sister of Marshall Woman Dies Wednesday

Mrs. Jessie L. Harkness, 78, Rural Route 7, Terre Haute, died Wednesday evening at Union Hospital. Survived by daughters Ruth Greenleaf and Thelma Link, both of Terre Haute. sister Ethel Wrightlinger of Marshall. nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Body to Bedina Peace Chapel for arrangements.

Talent Show Entries for Clark County Fair

Entries are being accepted through August 8 for the talent show at the Clark County Fair on Wednesday August 12 at 1 30 p m. Entry fee is 10 dollars with a 250 dollar purse and premiums of 100 75 50 and 25. Miss Rose Randall Weds Winter Thomas in Family Home

Rose Randall daughter of Mr and Mrs John T Randall wed Winter Thomas of Tampa Florida England at the Randall home on August 4. The item notes a war declaration against Germany and lists European powers preparing for conflict. A 98 degree reading was noted in Marshall last Monday along with marriage licenses for Tarquin Nichols 23 Westfield and Gladys Wolcott 18 Westfield and Ernest Tingley 19 Darwin with Freda Bush 17 Darwin. A baby boy born to Russell Haddix's family last Saturday. Stop signs are planned at main highway intersections into Marshall. The Renner farm south of Marshall yielded the best wheat crop and 25 bushels per acre. Martinsville Christian church will lay the corner stone of its new building at 3:00 p.m. next Sunday.

Clark County 4-H members will exhibit projects and join activities at the Marshall Fair August 9 to 15 led by Warren Bundy and Fred Manhart. Highlights include Dairy judging August 10, sheep August 11, a livestock auction August 12, ponies and horsemanship August 13, tractor contest August 14, and a market stock auction expected to reach $15 000 on August 12 at 4 p m in the 4-H barn.
