Capt. Edward Harlan known as Papa Ed dies suddenly on his north Marshall home porch after feeling ill while reading. A Civil War veteran and long time public figure from Darwin, he served in the Illinois Legislature and as House sergeant at arms 22 years. Survived by three sons Justin, John, Lon and a granddaughter. funeral held Sunday at the family residence with Rev. James Ryan officiating.

Obituary: Martha Cooper Dies After Long Life in Indiana
Martha Cooper of Parke County Indiana born 1883 in Clark County Illinois moved with her parents to Willow Creek area. She married John McDaniel Feb 26 1868 and had seven children four living Wheeler McDaniel Sarah Harrison Rhoda Misner Henry McDaniel survived by four children thirteen grandchildren and many friends. She joined Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Willow Creek in 1868 and lived a devout Christian life. She died April 5 1943 after a long life with her husband. She was preceded by one sister Ellen Partlow and by father Orry M Cooper. She was a good mother and friend and now goes to meet him on the other shore.

Prominent Casey Merchant Dies After Brief Illness
James Nash, leading Casey businessman and long time Casey township supervisor, died Saturday night after a brief kidney illness. He ran a large dry goods and general store and played a prominent role in public affairs. He was 61 and survived by his wife and one daughter.
