Death of Young Sailor Carl J. Bender at Great Lakes
Carl J. Bender 18, of Anderson township, enlisted in the navy last fall. He died Friday at the Great Lakes naval training station from pneumonia after measles. Body brought to Marshall. funeral at Auburn conducted by Rev. J C Craig. Burial with full military honors by local soldiers and sailors. Survived by father three brothers and four sisters.

City Council Agrees on One Year Coal Contract
