Kilborn notes continued cold coastal weather with heavy bloom damage feared for peaches apricots and strawberries. A Glendale resident reports a daughter’s marriage to a Union City Tenn. man and relocation to Mesa Arizona. The Tate freeze caused citrus losses estimated at 12 million dollars with uneven damage across nearby groves.
Mr. and Mrs. D. O. Martin expect to go back to Terre Haute Indiana in a short time. They will try to dispose of their property there and if successful will return to California to live.

Mrs Emma Murray wife of Rev E W Murray former pastor of the Congregational church died at her home Rock Falls New Jersey March 7 from heart trouble She was 46 born in London England Survived by husband two children Ruth a Rock Falls teacher and William at home A tireless church worker and valued correspondent in Rock Falls she will be missed by many in Marshall and the church community.
Five men from near West Union endured a near disaster on a flooded tract east of West Union. While moving property by ferry boat they were swept away, tied the craft to a tree, and spent the night exposed to a blizzard. They built a shelter from boards to survive the cold.
Last Sunday evening the Brotherhood led services at the Methodist Church. The Men's Choir performed special numbers and Miss Mary Miller played organ voluntaries to the delight of attendees. Chaplain Flowers offered prayer and Mr Nicholson introduced the speakers Frank M. Carpenter on Man and the Father and the Church, Gifford on Father and the Church, Brank on Home and the Church, Snavely on The Church and the Social Crisis.
The Board of Supervisors of Clark County Illinois is notified of a special meeting at the courthouse in Marshall on Monday April 21 1913 at 1 PM to organize the board approve claims and conduct other business. County Clerk W T Martin Jr signs notice.

William Brunt, 66, unmarried, died Sunday at the Davison home in lower Wabagh reportedly from paralysis following a stroke. Funeral services were held yesterday conducted by Ella John Sweet with the body then taken to Terre Haute for burial.
Snedeker extends 160 acre dairy east of Marshall at Vandalia for a dairy operation. He ordered a car load of two year old Holsteins and will market milk at Terre Haute or Indianapolis.
At the regular city council meeting an ordinance fixed alderman salaries at 25 cents per meeting and delayed payment to year end. The Young Men's Business Club petitioned for May 1 electrical service, granted. Utilities reported over 44 000 in water and light collections and 303 balance. treasury held 3159 21. Election judges and clerks were appointed for three precincts. A $90 bill for street cleaning was referred to committees. Council adjourned to April 18 to canvass election votes.
Near Oliver two Miss Forsythe and Miss McFarland rode a horse when an auto driven by Irvin Rogers came up from the rear. The horse backed into the road and was struck, injuring the animal and bruising the two riders. All blame falls on the excitable horse.
Roma B. May once a West Union resident and later a Co and O conductor was drowned in Peru Indiana’s flood a week before last. No death details yet. His parents live in Bloomington Indiana and his sister Mrs Louie Nils at West Union. Many friends mourn his untimely death.
A wagon hitched to a team driven by Roy Beard frightened while loading farm machinery at Vandalia station. The runaway careened down Sixth Street at high speed, one horse clipped and fell against the curb, injuring the animal severely and necessitating its death.
The Congregational Church music committee presents a moving picture show at the Pythian Theatre tomorrow evening. The feature is The May Pole Dance with three real acts. Special music will accompany the screening. Admission is 6 cents for children and 10 cents for adults.
Earl Martin and Russell Cooper, aged small boys, died in a Walnut Prairie barn fire caused by matches. A girl warned others too late as the barn burned. Another child in Douglas township perished the same day due to clothing catching fire.
James Hutchinson Marshall died Monday evening at his home south of the city after months of illness. A native of Clark county born near Livingston 78 years ago, he served in the 1st Missouri Cavalry during the Civil War. He is survived by his wife. Funeral services were held at Livingston with interment in the churchyard as the Grand Army participated.
The township may use road funds for building hard roads in incorporated villages or cities within it. The city council plans to seek a portion of the money to be spent on Marshall streets since the city pays about 75 percent of township taxes.
Mrs Amanda Cole widow of DeLance Cole died about 3 this morning after a year of paralysis. She was 79 and survived by four children. Funeral services will be held at the family residence at 2 30 tomorrow. A fuller obituary will appear next week.
Judge Snavely represents Mr. Hollenbeck as the Miller and Rathe contest against him are dismissed by the election contest committee after a hearing found no grounds for challenge.
The Cairo division lost track in multiple sections with about 15 miles washed out north of Lawrenceville. South of that point the extent is unknown. Repairs will be nearly like constructing a new road.

Shawneetown on the Ohio faces unprecedented flood destruction with no loss of life. The historic river town, once a leading trade center, may be abandoned as levees fail to withstand waters. Residents gauge no future rebuilding, fearing repeated ducking and removal of the old town.
The Herald misinformed last week claiming H C Bell was eliminated from the race for pension commissioner. Bell is now described as int and stronger, with backers noting he is the only ex-soldier among the candidates and that a soldier will likely receive the appointment over Robert W Miers of Indiana.
Representative Hollenbeck introduces a bill to appropriate 5000 dollars for a monument to Thomas Lincoln in Coles County where he lived. Proponents note lack of achievements yet praise his connection to the martyred president while recalling Twain’s joke about an Adam statue.
At a Saturday meeting of the Modern Woodmen Hon W T Hollenbeck George Kam macher E N McNary Howard Tag gart and Charles L McFarland were named delegates to oppose proposed insurance rate increases. If a district convention is held they will attend. otherwise they will proceed to the Springfield convention in May.
The Walter Burdick Chapter of D A R met Monday at Mrs. Jayne B. Kerr home. Mrs. W A Vaughn gave an excellent paper, followed by a second by Mrs. Alice Reed Har lan. Mrs. Shim el and Mrs. Young of Casey attended out of town. Dainty refreshments were served.
