The 26 piece Marshall delegation plus 21 Rotary members attended the 465th international district convention at Matteon. The Marshall band marched down Broadway singing the Rotary song before performing at the afternoon session while Newton High School won first prize.

Mrs. Dewey Williford attempted to light a fire using gasoline mistaken for kerosene in her southeast Marshall home. The gasoline exploded setting the room ablaze. She and the baby were unharmed while Mr. Williford and his mother extinguished the fire before firefighters were needed.
