Labor unions plan city hospital in Marion
About 40 delegates from local labor unions met in City Hall to discuss establishing a community hospital. W W T Rix was chosen as permanent chairman, Charlie Wimberly secretary, with A J McLaren chairing finance and W Roberts heading a coordination committee with the Greater Marion Association. A follow up meeting is set for December 16 to decide funding and cooperation.

The First Christian church held a weekday bazaar with a loaned cafeteria and booths. Proceeds totaled about 750 from booths and 200 from the cafeteria, nearing a thousand dollars. Men from the church raised a fine bed spread and a luncheon set as gifts to Mrs. Atvs A M Laird, wife of the pastor, with remarks by Attorney WT Warder.

A noon parade in South Market Street kicked off Marion Lodge No 100 homecoming week. Grand Marshal Wt Hollgnd led cowboys in a band, followed by carnival costumes, floats, and a mule. Miss Leota Atk tian joined the procession as the Elks opened evening events and the program included a kangaroo court and other features.
