Last World War Hero Albert Heyde Laid to Rest with Legion Honors
Albert Heyde, a Marion County soldier and first to die from the county in World War I, was honored at Maplewood cemetery after an East Marion Street home funeral. The American Legion led services at First Methodist Church, with military honors, firing squad, and bagpipe band, as mourners recalled his service from Omaha enlistment in 1917 to burial.

Two Fords collided at the corner of North Madison and Hast Jefferson streets near Schaffe Implement Shop around 5 pm Tuesday. In Marion District No 62 a school bond issue of 90000 dollars and district improvements to Limecoin Douglas and Logan sites were approved. Thieves Take Payroll Cash From Kincaid Bank Crew
Three armed bandits robbed the Kincaid Trust and Savings Co cashiers and deputy sheriff outside the bank, stealing $95,000 in Peabody payroll money. Deputy Sheriff Jerome Lockhard was injured, the getaway car stolen, and investigators suspect the thieves fled toward St Louis.
