The Rev W and Dockens father of ex Governor A M Dockery died October 22 at the home of an adopted daughter in Marion Iowa aged about 82 years His death ends a long tenure as a prominent minister of the Missouri conference F E Church South His remains were interred at Chiltoothe Missouri Tuesday
Last issue of the Jackson Cash Book prints a memorial for Robert Sturdivant by Tlon Louis Houck. Sturdivant died October 12 in Tallapoosa Georgia at age 86 years after 65 years in Cape Girardeau. Cadets O Kelly Boyd Mayfield Oscar Graham and Willie Wells accompanied Company G of the Sixth Battalion on a target practice trip to Burfordville last Friday and Saturday. The Excelsior Literary Society meets Friday afternoon at 2210 o'clock. Cadet uniforms were issued last Saturday and another order is planned next week as new members join. College boys organize a football team and train. Miss Alpha Leslie spent Sunday at home near Gravel Hill. Several young ladies enjoyed a hickory nut hunt Monday. William Schmitt visited his parents at Leopold Sunday.
Lodce reports health good and wheat up after a fine ruin last week. Mrs. Clay of Parmington visits sister Mrs. Cotb and family. Mrs. F. E. Robertson and son Otto, moved to Colorado last November, return to Bollinger County October 14 and plan to stay. John Fisher the assessor was here. Walter Sitzes and Clay Minter shaving hoops near Hahn post office. Mrs. Minter visits Fredericktown relatives, returns with mother Mrs. Catherine Dollar. Roy Charles and family visit Illinois relatives. J. H. Mouser finished molasses for the season. A. J. Mouser of Oak Ridge visits his father. Rev. R. A. Moyers leaves to attend William Jewell College to study for ministry. Moyers is praised as a fine young man and wished success. Mrs Burl Charles and children visiting relatives at Cape Girardeau.
Emanuel Lorance improves to convalescent after illness. Yollie Bille works for Juan Moyers this week. Will Tallent went possum hunting and brought in five pelts. Pleasant Valley residents met twice Sunday but the minister did not arrive. Elfrank, a collector, was in town last Thursday. John Davenport and family visited Juan Moyers Sunday. Nannie and Carrie Slinkard visited Sallie and Willie Kitchen Sunday. Maude Smith of Flat River visits J. M. Stone family. William Gruner and Rev. Trentham called Sunday. Prof. W. M. Welker was in the community Sunday. The debating society met Friday night with a fine program and public interest grows.
