The Missouri Corn Growers Association plans its third annual meeting during Farmers' Week in Columbia January 9th and 10th 1906. A State Corn Show will open to all Missouri farmers with hundreds of entries and prizes including cash and agricultural implements.
A reader’s California letter warns that interior irrigation valleys from Kern to Shasta are malarious and health risks rise there. It notes a broker’s cautionary stance on land purchases, drought and heat shaping farming life, fruit markets, and local recollections including old newspapers, books, and community events in Corning and broader California during 1905.
Boston Press mails several town items noting good health and busy farmers gathering corn and wood for winter. J D Allen sold his farm to an Illinois man for 3250 dollars. Williams Cooperage Co has two men prospecting timber for a local mill. Nanney family visited, A A Lessley traveled to Jackson, and a railroad rumor circulates. Rural mail delivery continues and the blacksmith expects a boy.
Health of residents reported as good apart from colds. Birth announced for October 27 a girl to Carl Shetley and wife, per Dr. Water. Protracted meeting progress noted on the 18th at Krailman Schoolhouse. B Bollinger and wife visited the Shetley family Sunday. Darrell Loss rented F. D. property.
Health is very good in this part of the country now. The factory will quit taking bolts this week and the people are rushing them in. Our people will raise the factory when it gets away. Our school is progressing nicely under the careful management of W. D. Mayfield. He seems to understand his business. It begins to look a little like winter is approaching about here. It snowed a little last Sunday. John F. Mayfield and wife were the guests of J. F. Mayfield Saturday night and Sunday. J. F. Mayfield is making preparations to build him a new house. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Dave Long, a plow boy. A good mare died for Dave Long last Sunday. A merchant seems to be doing a good business. Tallent, a school teacher, led a wagon of young ladies from Henson schoolhouse last Friday. On return the wagon overturned, spilling passengers. Stave hauling is common now. Emanuel Lorance is up now. Shell and Denman delivered stock, two loads of sheep and cattle. J W Tallent, our imprent, went to St Louis on business. Literary society meets at Barber schoolhouse next Friday. debate on whether women have more influence in morality and religion, with a program to follow.
Mrs Wheeler and husband from Paxico arrived seeking health relief for their baby, but the child died Saturday and was buried in Union cemetery after services by Rev Mawk. A large crowd attended. Cleve Davis moved to Bessville and Ora Spain left for the Dan Whitener farm. Timothy Hawn’s team nearly overturned crossing Crooked Creek in high water. Charley Hale recovering at home. Dr Gale visited for business. Collector Henry Elbank in Bessible. Ina Mabyee sick with pneumonia. J M Welker returned from Pemiscot and plans to ship hogs this week. Harold Welker remains about town.
Fayette Bess wins blue ribbon at the male show for best young male. Several citizens invest in a fine coach horse to be kept at Glen Allen. BmVILLLAN.
Last Saturday a young man named G M Rolens attempted to cash a raised check at the Miners and Merchants Bank in Flat River. He claimed Bellinger county as home and admitted erasures were made. Deputy Sheriff Praser arrested him. bond set at 1000. he awaits grand jury action.

Final settlement will occur November 1 1905 at Marble Hill courthouse with notice by publication for four weeks before November term in Missouripo press.
