Fruit Farm Expansion Plans Near Town

Dr. K P Bigs informs the editor he will plant 200 fine Wine sap apple trees on his farm west of town and about 700 more late variety trees in the fall. He recently bought the farm and is a progressive gentleman who believes fruit growing will pay.

Turn of the Tide staged at Lutesville Opera House

A local production of The Turn of the Tide at the Lutesville opera house drew a crowded Saturday night audience. The author was supported by strong stage work and scenic effects, with well delineated characters and several encores for Rosa Fischer Sue Belle Graves and Charles Revelle. H F Steele bought a house from J H Hates on Union Avenue.

Hog Creek School Closes After Six Month Term

Hog Creek School closed Saturday after a six months term taught by J. W. Tallent. The year’s work was highly satisfactory. The term report lists enrollment 60, one teacher, total days attended 4067, average days attended per pupil 67 and 47:60, average attendance 34 and 65-118, days taught 118.

Buttons Made to Order at Bollinger County Store

Mr. Shivering offers tailor made buttons to match any cloth at the Bollinger county clothing store. John Collins was very sick at the start of the week. Frank Colewood appears at the opera house tonight as a country gentleman. Dr. C. M. Witmer and H. M. Smith have moved into new residences in the Smith-Witmer block.

Belle Bollinger Joins Local Millinery Firm as Trimming Chief

The notice thanks patrons and announces Miss Belle Bollinger has bought an interest in the millinery and will lead the trimming department. She brings years of experience from St. Louis and other cities. A grand opening with a full spring hat stock will be held in Litesville on March 24, 1894.

Populists of Bellinger County Meet in Court House

The Populists of Bellinger county held a mass meeting at the court house Saturday with about fifteen attendees. Editor Scott Wilkinson spoke for about an hour, outlining novel ideas in rough language. William Kinder and Robert Hughey followed as speakers and a temporary central committee was named with township meetings set for March 24 to elect permanent committeemen. T. H. Snider, chairman, R. J. Hughey, secretary, Lorance township. A. L. Gibbs, J. C. Kegley, and C. P. Crump, Liberty No. 1. W. L. Scott, Crooked Creek. P. A. Huffer and Huffman comprise the slate. A. L. Gibbs was named a delegate to the State convention in Kansas City on March 27, 1894.
