New Press Office Opens on Second Floor
Around February 5 the Press will occupy a new second floor Smith building office with three elegant rooms. The work room measures 28 by 94 feet with three large windows for light. The business office reading room is 16 by 18 feet, well lit, housing reading tables and the editors desk. The rear houses editorial and private offices. setup praised as superior to Southeast Missouri newspapers. Visitors welcome to inspect and conduct business.

A hunter named E. J. Cavaness, famed for unusual game, reportedly shot by accident at Whitewater last Saturday after entering a store to warm up. The discharge pierced two cracker boxes, a dried fruit box, and a shoes box, lodging in a second box, causing damages around five dollars. He paid it and left.

Preacher fatally shoots brother in law over house dispute
Special to hears GRAVELTON January 20 Rev Clannaham shot Phelan Ward four miles SW of here yesterday. Ward and his brother Lawson confronted the preacher after a house dispute. The preacher shot Lawson twice injuring him and then fired at Phelan Ward, who is not expected to live. The Ward brothers have a violent history, including a murder case thirteen years ago.
