A local retailer announces a grand clearing sale to close out summer stock. The offer covers dry goods notions ladies and gents furnishing goods clothing shoes slippers hats caps and related items to make room for fall stock arriving soon.
Calicos and lawn fabrics drop in price with per yard cuts from 14 to 22 cents. Bleached sheeting, tablecloths, towels and linings mark deep reductions as men’s and boys’ suits shoes and corsets also see steep discounts. The store touts big reductions across clothing, hosiery, and ladies furnishings, urging shoppers to buy now while stock lasts.

A heavy freight train broke in two south of the depot Monday morning at 240 o'clock. The rear section was coupled after a misread stop, causing a heavy collision that derailed six cars. Two cars were demolished and burned. others were raised and sent to shops. Loss estimated at 83,600.

Toda Allen and Miss E J Trautwein wed in the Methodist church with Rev. B Kitterman officiating. Attendants included Jacob Berry, Hattie Solomon, and Catherine Tranter. A reception followed at the bride’s father's home. the couple left on the Glen Allen for a visit to St Louis and Hermon Missouri. Mr Allen is a noted Bolling county teacher and Miss Trautwein the daughter of F P Trautwein, Magnolia mills owner. Four advertised remedies claim strong sales including Dr King’s New Discovery and Electric Bitters.
