The store announces a sweeping reduction to close out all summer stock including dry goods notions ladies and gents furnishing goods clothing shoes slippers hats and caps to make room for a large new stock arriving on the road.
Bargain sale offers drastic price cuts on lawn, sheeting, tablecloths, corsets, hosiery, ribbons, gloves, and all notions. Shoes and clothing heavily reduced. men and boys suits, pants, and jackets cut to a fraction of former costs. Shoes for children, ladies, and men deeply discounted as stock must be cleared.
The week ending last Saturday was unfavorable for agriculture with no rain until late, heat in the north and chill in the south, water scarcity and many counties short of plowing. Corn prospects vary by region, with two thirds of a crop in the west central counties and potential good yields in the south with rains. Also notes a Sunday school convention at Chillicothe beginning next Wednesday for three days and a 1-3 fare rail rate. B Rosenblum promotes a Big Clearing Sale at the Leader urging early purchases amid rising crowds.
The letter in the Press comments on a Farmer Jones article from Farmer Jones and targets a Republican youth known as a Chatterbox. It accuses him of falsehoods and insults his family while praising the Jones name and calling for truthful definitions of a Republican.
Arthur Mc Cans faced charges of taking apples from Mrs. Baker’s orchard before Justice Bowman. A jury acquitted him last Monday. the other four young men had their cases dismissed.
A four year old daughter of David Willfong near Scopus was fatally injured when she slipped from sacks on a loaded wagon and was run over by the wheel in the barn yard. She died about a half hour later at home after returning from Esau McCormack's with her mother, the wagon driven by Kyle Cole.
A new postoffice has been established six miles north of Marble Hill named Murricane. Supplied from Marble Hill, J. M. Shrom was commissioned as postmaster on June 27 and the office is open for business receiving mail on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Philip Reilly and Avery Watts of Glen Allen say a recent article misreported their arrest on warrants by J R Thompson over Mrs Baker’s apple affair. They claim they were returning from Glen Allen when they stopped near an orchard to repair a damaged cart. Hearing voices, they entered to buy apples, met Thompson who said it was too late and asked their names before proceeding to a tent.
Notice offers six months free American Poultryman to readers of the Paris who prepay one year by August 15, 1894 or to new subscribers paid for a year by that date. Also notes Marble Hill tax books are ready and tax payments may be made anytime.
