Local Mansfield area notices recount Chautauqua preparations and early performances, gate tents arriving and the urge to attend. William Hirth editor of the Missouri Partner and founder of the Missouri Farmers Association will visit Startville Thursday July 14 and Ava Monday July 16. A large meeting is planned in both towns and residents merchants and business people are urged to attend. Hirth will speak at Hartville July 14 at 11 0 and at Ava July 16 at the time noted.
Local business leaders pledge and combine efforts to back the Chautauqua program. Citizens are urged to buy season tickets, help advertise, and show civic pride to ensure the event’s financial success before the October dates. The paper notes the three day program and urges neighborly action.
