Local Boys Suffer Accidents In School Workshop

In Forman High School Tuesday two local boys were injured. Jake Smith cut three fingers on an electric saw. two fingers were severely cut. He returned to classes Wednesday with a bandaged hand. Kenny Bender stepped on a sharp stick that flicked up and struck his left eye. eyelid was cut but no serious injury, and he attended school Wednesday afternoon with a bandage.

Mail Overseas Parcels Early For Christmas

Plans to mail Christmas parcels overseas call for sending between October 15 and November 15. Japan Korea and other islands should be mailed by November 1. Parcels must be wrapped tightly and keep within domestic parcel post limits with a maximum 50 pounds for A P O deliveries. Matches lighter fluid cigarettes and tobacco are prohibited. Tabitha Society Meets Thursday at St Pauls Lutheran

Mrs Dan Rankin hosted the Tabitha Society of St Pauls Lutheran church with five members at morning quilting and thirteen in the afternoon. Full day attendees were Mesdames Louis Hiller Robert Singley Fred Radefeld Clifford McGinnis and Clarence Fornoff. The group invited the Young Women's section to join at the October 4 meeting. Twenty five ladies plan to attend the Lutheran Women's Missionary League Zone meeting in Havana on October 11.

Former Manito Residents Mark 25th Wedding Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Beimfohr celebrated a silver wedding anniversary at an Open House in Hennepin. The couple, longtime residents of the Henniepin Drainage District, received a wrist watch and twenty five silver dollars from drainage commissioners. Their daughters Carolyn and Roberta helped with hosting and guest book duties as friends from Chicago, Ocean City Maryland, Pekin, Manito, and others attended.

The Bishop Community Club held its first meeting of the year on September 18 at the Arnold Armbrust home. Officers elected were Henry Wahlfeld as President and Mary Vaughn as Secretary and Treasurer. A wiener roast followed the business session with many members in attendance.

Hill-Palmer Unit American Legion Auxiliary Meets

The September meeting of the Hill-Palmer Unit American Legion Auxiliary was held Monday September 17 at the Legion Hall with Bertha Thomas as president. Seventeen members attended and committees were named for the October 1 officer installation. Elsie Hilemeyer of Havana will act as installing officer. Committee chairs for the evening included Dolores DeVore Faye Fox and Lucille Hubbard, and for Monday evening were Matilda Bernshaygen Mabel Charlton and Effie Cooper.

Delinquent Tax List Published in Manito Community Express

The current issue of the Manito Community Express publishes the delinquent real estate tax list for Forest City Forest City Township Manito and Manito Township. The list comes from the County Tax Collector's Office under Illinois statute. Tax Collector William K Sheridan and the Manila Community Express worked to remove names of taxpayers who paid at the last moment.

Forman School Club Meets Monday Evening

Sixty one members attended the Forman School Club gathering in the school gym with Mrs. Anita Himmel presiding. Plans were outlined for fall and winter activities including a home talent play set for early December and a next meeting on October 15. New lunch committee members were named and officers elected to lead this year’s work.
