Mrs. Stuart Thomas of Manito elected chairman of the Mason County Health Improvement Association board at Easton High School meeting. Mrs. Currey Dearborn named secretary with a slate including Ralph Porter and Floyd Toland among others. Mason County joins Illinois counties in supporting Blue Cross Hospital Care plan. Former China missionary to speak at Spring Lake Church services

Miss Everly Hayes former assistant to the late Dr. William Wallace who was murdered by Chinese Communists will speak at Spring Lake Church Sunday School and morning services. Hayes served in the Army Nursing Corps 1946 47 and worked at Baylor University Hospital before becoming a missionary to Stout Memorial Hospital Wuchow. She stayed with Wallace and Miss Jessie Green in Wachow despite Communist threats and later claimed his body for burial noting mistreatment. Hayes is the daughter of Mr and Mrs W R Hayes of Havana. All friends are invited to hear her messages.

Manito farmer H J Waldmeier dies at 70

Henry J Waldmeier 70 lifelong Manito resident and farmer died Sunday night in Pekin hospital from a heart attack. Born March 15 1881 he was married to Nellie Whiteford in 1907. Surviving widow two daughters five grandchildren and several lodge affiliations. Funeral 1 30 p m Wednesday at Manito Methodist Church with Masonic graveside rites Meadow Lawn Cemetery.

Frederick visits home from Wright Patterson base

CPL. FREDERICK Phil Frederick arrived from Wright Patterson Air Base Dayton Ohio and stayed with his parents Mr and Mrs John Frederick and other home folks from Saturday to Monday noon. He visited his brother John and family in Champaign on Sunday and dined with Warren Frederick and family at the John Frederick home. Later the Fredericks and Phil drove to Princeton for supper with relatives.
