A community effort led by the American Legion Auxiliary and church groups supported the Manito area Chest X ray survey. Volunteers including Mary J. Chest X-Ray Survey Continues Across Mason County
The Chest X-ray Survey began in Manito and will travel to San Jose Easton Bath Kilbourne Havana with dates through November. In Manito 357 people were X-rayed over two days, surpassing 1950 and 1948 counts, while Forest City had 116 X-rays on November 7th with prior totals of 89 in 1950 and 173 in 1948. The bus schedule warns that residents who have not yet been X-rayed should do so before 9 PM on November 22, noting chest X-rays can reveal tuberculosis heart disease cancer and other conditions.

Manito Methodist Church Hosts Successful Fellowship Supper
The Woman's Society of Christian Service of Manito Methodist Church held a well attended Thursday supper in the church dining room. Byron Johnson led a Community Sing with solos by John son, and Mrs Ralph Lee played piano. A rhythm band from Vacation Bible School impressed many and Kath ryn Meeker accompanied them. Treasurer Mrs Robert Schumm reported gifts equal to last year. no bazaar in three years. Vice president Mrs Amos Thompson closed the financial portion with a prayer by minister D J Powell. Recreational games followed led by Mrs Harold Thompson and Mrs Gene Marquardt. The Golden Links Stun School Class and Comrades of the Way Class hosted dining room and kitchen respectively. The event remains a key yearly church program.
