County Scholarship Exams Notice for Havana June 6 1953

Scholarship examination will be held at the Court House in Havana on Saturday June 6, 1953 at 9 00 a m. Scholarships awarded depend on scores including County Agriculture Veteran of World War I and Child of a Veteran of World War II. Minstrel Show By Manito Legion Saturday Night

A Minstrel show titled Pets and Repeats will be presented by the Manito Legion and Auxiliary Saturday night in Forman gymnasium starting at 7 30 p.m. The program features songs in darky style including Bill Bailey Birth of the Blues Pistol Packin Momma and Old Man River with advance adult tickets 60 cents and door prices 75 cents for adults 30 cents for children.

Evelyn Fletcher presided over the Forest City Legion Auxiliary meeting at her home with hostesses Mahala Rickett and Lois Parker. Mrs Fletcher reported finances. Nora Cannon announced the finances. the home talent play Safety First raised 34 dollars for each group. Intermediate Girl Scouts made dray favors filled with cigarettes sent to a veterans hospital. attendees included Evelyn and Helen Fletcher, Pearl Wahlfeld, Babe Folkman, Elsie Emmons, Nora Cannon, Hala Rickett, Luetta Gensel, Helen Kreiling, Lois Parker, Mae Breedlove, and guest Martha Kolves.
