School Vote Is Favorable For Annexation

Funeral services for Albert V. Golden 85 Spring Lake farmer were held at Spring Lake Reformed church after collapsing in a field Friday and dying at Pekin hospital. He was born July 22 1867 in Spring Lake Township and survived by two sons, 22 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was a member of the Spring Lake Reformed Church.

Forman Schools Plan May Picnic Day Across Districts

The Forman Grade Schools faculty organize a noon picnic on May 28, 1953 with pot luck for parents. Elementary grades 1-6 in Forest City meet at the Junior High Building, while grades 1-6 in Manito meet at the Grade School Building. Forman junior and senior high students will also take a trip that day.

Registration for first grade in Forest City and Manito

Each year families register new students who will be six by December 1, 1953. On Monday May 25 1953 from 1 30 to 3 p m in the first grade teachers buildings in Forest City and Manito parents may register. Annexation petitions face mixed votes in Spring Lake district

Balloting on annexation petitions from Spring Lake school district 606 to Forman Community Unit District 124 showed no opposition in the upper area with 14 for and 0 against at Sky Ranch Skating Rink. Lower tract polling at Star School and Forest City reported 69 32 and 88 2 respectively, while Manito tallied 156 for each group.
