Mason County Schools Prepare for Polio Vaccine

Grace Ratenewer, PHN, says 716 Mason County children in first and second grade and others will be eligible to receive the polio vaccine through schools and physicians. Officials caution results are pending from an April University of Michigan study, but plan to vaccinate early to protect children before polio season. The vaccine, supplied by the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis with March of Dimes funds, marks the first use of a new preventive measure rather than a test.
