The Manito Methodist Church will hold closing services for its Vacation Bible School on Friday June 27 at 7 30 p m DST. Parents are urged to attend to see the children's handiwork songs verses and presentations and to thank the staff. The minister will speak briefly and an offering will be taken.

Certificates were awarded to 86 pupils by Rev. Hobbs. A $46.60 collection was sent to the Council Bluff Iowa Chickens Home. Roses were presented to Supt. Mrs. Marvin Neikirk for her leadership, with assist from the teachers.
The WSCS of the Manito Methodist Church meets Thursday evening July 3 at 8 00 p.m. at the church. Devotional chairman is Lillian Golden and program chairman is Alice Meyer.
The Meadow Lawn Cemetery fund continues to grow as Mr. Jake Graff donates one hundred dollars bringing the receipt to 146.00. Others wishing to contribute are directed to see Etta Cox for details.
Parks and Dale and Dinnie Burks spent Sunday afternoon with Norman and Carol Combs. Mr and Mrs Robert Louie and daughter Pat visited Saturday evening with Allen Matthews and family of Pekin. Mr and Mrs Jess Harmon and family of Green Valley were Tuesday evening callers in the Roy Runyon home.
Helen Kay Herrman spends Monday afternoon with Pat Louie in a casual social visit at an undisclosed location.

Cook Jr. of Havana chaired the local Defense Bonds Committee with Treasury figures. Illinois sales for May 1952 of Series E J and K exceeded May 1951 E F and G by over 71 469 000 00, says Arnold J. Raven.

Lt Ernest Archambeau and wife formerly living at Fort Monmouth New Jersey arrived at his in laws Mr and Mrs S M Rohsh and will visit relatives and friends for several weeks before joining him at his new assignment at the Atomic Plant in New Mexico.
Mr and Mrs Louis Talbott and daughter Mary Ann of Peoria were weekend guests of Mr and Mrs Robert Hilling.
Mrs J E Corbett and her daughter Mable stayed with Len Halter in Peoria weekend. They attended the Sparks-White wedding at St Bernards Church and the 2:00 reception at Mt Hawley Country Club. Bride Margaret Helen Sparks is the daughter of Mr and Mrs George Sparks, once Manito residents.
Mason County Home Bureau receives third place on the state honor roll for a 12 percent net membership gain over the past year. County President Mrs. George Knuppel and Membership Chairman Mrs. Clair Lynn attended the Peoria convention.
Last week's issue contains errors. Mrs Earl Hecknan Mrs Roy Strrett and Mr and Mrs Roy Willis on attended the Werner Dance Recital at the Shrine Mosue in Peoria last Friday evening. Nancee Hasselbberg granddaughter of Mr and Mrs Ray Starrett danced in several numbers.
Mr and Mrs Wilson Hamilton intend to move soon into the home they bought from Glen Talbott, formerly the Jack Hill residence. Mr Moore has purchased from Talbott the former Hamilton property and plans to erect two new homes on the site.
The Manito 4-H Fancy Fixers held their third meeting on June 18 at Formay Sr High. Beverley Proehl presided. Marie Meyer read the minutes and led roll. July 11 was set for the local Achievement event. health talks by LaDonne Bender and Lorrene Estes. Demonstrations covered clothing and cooking with 20 members present.
The Kennedy family gathered for the 16th reunion Sunday in Forest City Baptist Church parlors with 178 attendees. Eldest present was Miss Caroline Davis of Peoria. youngest was Douglas Graff, son of Vernon and Mrs Graff. Ralph Kennedy of Cassopolis, Michigan led the meeting. officers elected include Frank Kennedy, Sterling Illinois president. Olin Kennedy, Forest City vice president. Mary Meeker, Manito secretary-treasurer. The historian announced marriages of Ralph Kennedy and Mrs Kennedy of Cassopolis and Robert Spanski and Mrs Spanski of Springfield, and the birth of Larry Ralph to Richard Kennedy and Mrs Kennedy of Peoria.
On Monday evening Mrs Emma Hart entertained a dinner gathering including Mr and Mrs Grover Gum Bell Anson, Mr and Mrs Ernest Palmer, Mrs Eva Wilson, Mrs Katherine Hamilton and Lorraine.
