The American Legion Auxiliary sales chairwoman Mrs. Thelma Hirst reports 600 poppies sold in Manito last Saturday raising about 70 dollars for rehabilitation and child welfare. Dwight Whitaker to Receive State FFA Award at Convention

Dwight Whitaker, son of Mr and Mrs Pierd Whitaker, will receive the Illinois FFA State Award at the June convention in Springfield on June 12 to 14. He will represent Illinois in the regional contest in August at the State fairgrounds, earning $100 and a plaque, for his work in farm mechanics and leadership at Forman High School.

Rotary International Convention Sings At Chicago 1955

Delegates from Manito and nearby towns attended the Rotary International convention in Chicago at the Chicago Stadium from May 29 through June 2. Vice President Richard Nixon closed the event this morning after a memorial service for deceased servicemen and Rotary members. The Chicago gathering honored Mrs. Paul Harris and featured a pageant recalling fifty years of Rotary with 12 scenes. Mr Knuppel acted as a local delegate and will report to the Manito Rotary Club.
