Ennis Crafton Underwent Leg Operation Again
Ennis Crafton 11 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. James Crafton of Manito recently had a second leg operation at St. Francis hospital Peoria. The transfer of a stomach muscle replaced a leg muscle as part of hopes for normal walking. He remains in a cast from waist to toes and will stay two to three months. He is in room 852 and welcomes letters from friends.

Fire damages Manito plant in nighttime blaze
A Manito plant was plunged into darkness at 12 45 a.m. when firemen shut off power after mistaking the circuit for factory lines. Damage is expected in the thousands of dollars. It is the second major fire at the plant in recent years. The Manito fire department is commended for rapid control despite difficulties.
