Klingbiel Wins Seat On Illinois Supreme Court Monday

Circuit Judge Ray I. Klingbiel Republican of Rock Island won the Fourth Supreme Judicial district seat on the Illinois Supreme Court, defeating Democrat Glenn Ratcliff. Klingbiel carried 13 of 14 counties, with a total vote of 31,002 to 22,641 and a margin of 8,361.

Gary Gosda Returns From Wildlife Camp at Allerton

Gary Gosda returned from the State Wildlife Camp at Allerton near Monticello Illinois. He was chosen as one of two Mason County representatives at the State Camp. The event, sponsored by the University of Illinois, promotes wildlife conservation in Illinois. He belongs to the Forman Willing Workers 4-H Club and the Forman Chapter of the Future Farmers of America.

Discharge News for Sgt. Melvin J. Allen

Mrs. Laura Allen of Manito reports Sgt. Melvin J. Allen has received an honorable discharge from the U S Army at Fort Riley Kansas on July 21. Enlisted July 1950, he trained at Fort Riley and Fort Knox then served in Korea where he was wounded three times. He later trained in atomic warfare at Camp Desert Rock Nevada and earned the Purple Heart Combat Infantryman’s Badge and U N and Korean Service Ribbons. His wife Eileen lives on Route 6 Peoria Illinois.
