A large Sunday night crowd gathered at the Methodist Church for a pot luck dinner honoring Rev. and Mrs. Watson and family. The Golden Links class led the meal, gifts were presented by the congregation and choirs, and Rev. Watson spoke before departing for Middleton Ohio with good wishes from Manito friends.

A. J. C. Woiwode and Sons are remodeling the Reynolds property from the Mary Fischer estate. The Reynolds plan to move in once repairs finish. Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Parkins have bought the former Reynolds residence.
An 8 lb 2 oz son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Meeker at Pekin Hospital on Thursday December 30. He is named Charles Edward. He joins siblings Kenneth and Claudia. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schulte and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Meeker.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Meeker of the Forest City Community announce the birth of their second child, a daughter named Jan Louise, born Monday January 3 at Pekin Hospital. The newborn weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces. She has an older sister Linda Lee. maternal grandmother is Mrs. Bertha Calloway and paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Sam Meeker.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Camp of North Pekin announce the birth of an 8 lb 4 oz daughter named Lois Lynn at Methodist Hospital Peoria on December 31. The mother is the former Mary Alice Abbott. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Camp Pekin and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Abbott.
Farmers urged to attend township sign-up meetings across Mason County for cost-sharing funds. Sessions run 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on January 10 11 12 13 at listed town halls churches banks and farm bureaus including Quiver Lynchburg Crane Creek Easton Havana Bath Kilbourne Manito Forest City Mason City and Pennsylvania.
R W Wistehuff and Ivan Mason of Seelye Hardware Co attend a John Deere Instruction and Training School in Moline sponsored by John Deere Mfg Co for the week.

James Todd Huffman 72 lifelong Manito resident died at Pekin Public Hospital after a three week illness. He served 12 years as Manito township supervisor retiring in 1950. Born Oct 8 1882 he married Agnes Porter in 1908. Surviving are his widow a son Merrill Huffman daughter Anna belle Proehl a brother and five grandchildren. Funeral at 2 p.m. Saturday Johnson Funeral Home with Rev Joseph W Hobbs officiating. Burial Meadow Lawn Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home.
Youth for Christ meets at Forman Gym Saturday night at 7 30 with Rev Andrew Semenchuk Russian American missionary. Semenchuk born in Europe grew up in Canada and the United States. He studied sacred music and theology and has served in Europe Alaska and the US preparing for future work in Argentina. His message and slides highlight missionary efforts and spiritual needs. Everyone is welcome to attend the 7 30 rally at Forman Gym Manito.

An evening event at Forest City Baptist Church on Wednesday January 12 features a pot luck supper starting at 6 00 PM. Russell Orr of Springfield, a noted sports official and speaker, will headline with group singing and entertainment organized by Ralph Kreiling Juanita Lempke and Elizabeth Harms.
