Wm H Benson of 544 Mt Holyoke Avenue Pacific Palisades California died suddenly at his home on Saturday February 18. He was married to Miss Mettie Maryette Crosby a former resident of this state and was well known here.
Parkland School News recounts Friday’s meeting led by President Robert Waiman with discussions on future projects. Saturday social events included Linda Dilley hosting schoolmates, a chicken dinner, and visits from Rosemary Snyder and Barbara Cummings. The U S War Claims Commission has set March 2 1950 as the filing deadline for Illinois World War II veterans to submit statements of injuries or damages incurred as prisoners of war. A R Kays administrator of the Illinois Veterans Commission urged qualified ex servicemen to file and IVC offices statewide are ready to assist.
Miss Dolores Beard of Forest City daughter of Mr and Mrs George Beard is selected by the class of 1950 for the D A R award. Her activities include librarian duties class treasury plays school newspaper cheerleader glee club and other school roles.
The men of the church will lead the morning service at the Methodist Church next Sunday February 26th. Lay-Leader Lewis Warner will be assisted by many church men. The theme is The Faith of A Christian Layman echoing nationwide Methodist practice.
Funeral services for Ima Jane Lower Curtis 68 were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Preston funeral home with Rev. E. L. Hanes officiating and Glendale Memorial Gardens as the burial site. Born in Shelby Nebraska December 19 1881 she moved to San Jose in 1901 and married James Garfield Curtis in 1903. survivors include two daughters Ruth Frampton Pekin and Lera Hawkins Manito along with brothers Louis Lower Pekin and John Lower East Peoria and a sister Mrs Lexie Ingersol South Pekin. James Curtis and Louis Curtis preceded her in death. She resided in Pekin 37 years and was active in the Christian church and Pekin Union Mission Mothers home class.
The Anti Cant Class of Egypt Community Church met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Russll Crosby on Monday evening for a pot luck supper. Officers elected include President Mildred Lippert, Vice President John Crosby, Secretary Treasurer Bertha Briggs, Assistant Lester Lippert, and Teacher Helen Rankin. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Crosby and Loida, Lippert family, Worstahl, Carrie Dunn, Nellie Waldmeier, Edith Rankin and Helen, Lawrence Whiteford, Kate Heyl and Freda.
Mr and Mrs Harold Worner hosted a six o'clock family dinner Tuesday in honor of Mr Worners father turning 82. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Henry Worner of San Jose and Mr and Mrs Wilfred Worner of Mason City alongside the hostesses.

Mr and Mrs Finns D Wilson celebrate their thirteenth anniversary on February 20 1950. The couple moved to Manito a year ago from Grove send and have four children. Mr Wilson worked as a blacksmith at Caterpillar for seven and a half years before opening a local shop in Manila last April.
Mr and Mrs Henry Bartels marked 50 years of marriage with an open house on Sunday February 19 1950 at the home of their son in Manito. Relatives from Glasford Pekin Mapleton Forest City and Manito attended. They have four children eleven grandchildren and a cake by Christine Johnson of Manito. Acknowledgments were sent for cards gifts and flowers. They were married near Manito by Rev E A Drake at the Bartels family home.
The Forest City Merry Mixers 4-HiParty A Month Club plan a square and round dance Friday March 3 at Forest City High School Gym starting 8:00 p.m. The Golden Melodiers from Canton radio station will provide music. Prizes for best dressed couple, refreshments available, all invited.

The White School Community Club will sponsor the February meeting Friday evening February 24 at 7 30 at the school. Mrs Howard Friedrick serves on the program committee and Clarence Azbell on the lunch committee. Families should provide chili and pie for their family. Friends of the school are invited to attend.
Parkland Community Club met Friday night at school for a business session. President Robert Herrman named a nominating committee for officer elections in April. Committees include Food chaired by Mrs. Robert Herrman and Mrs. Herbert Becker, Entertainment, Invitations and decorating, and Roy Runyon offered to build shelves for hot lunch supplies. A district Thank You party is planned for Friday March third for donors and helpers of the fall chicken supper.
