Winter weather disrupted plans at Bernshausen Implement Co on Chalmers Community Day. Despite a Sunday storm with rain sleet and thunder, many farmers visited in the afternoon and stayed for free dancing motion pictures and lunch despite hazardous roads.
A Chillicothe group gathers at the Warner home to honor Dr. and Mrs. I. E. Dolph and son Ivor before their California departure. The event features a pot luck supper, birthday cake for Charles Warner, a 29th wedding anniversary toast for Mr. and Mrs. George Hubbard, contests and prizes. Present were relatives and friends from Chillicothe and area.
Mr. and Mrs. Cleve Shelabarger and Mr. and Mrs. Sid Thompson of Green Valley were dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Fletcher and daughter Morton.
Julius Zeeck of Manito Hardware Co. earned 500 in a General Electric sales contest by ranking fourth. Winners must attend the GE Convention in San Francisco where prizes are awarded. Mr and Mrs Zeeck travel with Mr and Mrs Hank Fischer to the west coast then plan a return via Phoenix Arizona with relatives visited along the route. Zeeck expects to be back by March 1.
Pfc Wayne Budke arrived back at his Marine Base in San Diego California after a brief furlough with his parents Mr and Mrs Byron Budke and other relatives and friends He said a new duty address will be published as soon as it is received
Pfe. Wayne Durham, who recently returned to his Marine Base, reports a new address at 1242267 USMC MTG-10 VMFT-10 Air FMF Pac MCA S El Toro Santa Ana California.
Mrs. Della O Hara informs that her son Robert F. O Hara has been transferred from Lackland Air Base Texas to Keesler Air Force Base Mississippi. His new address is Pfe. Robert F. O Hara 26346642 Box 353 3411 Student Training Squadron.
Pfe Larry Parkins, trainee at Le Tourneau Technical Institute in Longview Texas, is expected home this week on a twenty five day furlough.

The annual Salvation Army drive continues in Manita and countywide. Residents who have not been contacted are urged to mail contributions to local treasurer R. L. Mahr. Tag day on February 16 will be led by Amos Thompson to support future needs.
Donation drive for Forman Community Unit District 124 to replace the gym scoreboard has gathered support from Hal Willet Lawrence Thomas and Bill Haley with contributions from Delbert Bauer Calvin Bauer George Long Frank Houston and many local businesses and individuals. Donors include Abe Lawson Mrs M D Galvin and numerous trades merchants banks and service stations assisting the fund drive through Wednesday morning.
John David Boyer and Gerald L. Morse joined 18 Air Force applicants in Peoria for final physicals before Chicago. They returned to Maiita on a 48 hour pass then left again Thursday.
Mrs. Marlow Wilson a surgical patient at St Francis hospital Peoria is improving satisfactorily. Michael Meyer son of Mr and Mrs Harold Meyer is a patient at St Frances hospital for diagnosis and treatment. Rev Paul Rager of Spring Lake church has flu since last Saturday. His pulpit last Sunday was filled by Edward Cortes of Pekin.
Mrs Eileen Beutel has returned home from Pekin hospital after receiving treatment for pneumonia.
W. S. Maloney shows daily improvement after a prolonged illness. His wife and family express cautious optimism that he is definitively on the road to recovery.
Bruce Cole remains a patient at Pekin hospital but is feeling much better and in good spirits. He expresses a wish to come home as his condition improves.
Mrs Grace Frederick remains confined at Pekin hospital after last Wednesday's auto collision. She has no broken bones but suffers bruises and shock and will recover at her daughter Mrs Vernon Parr's home in Green Valley after hospital discharge.
Easton Hawks defeated the Forman Braves 48 to 41 at Forman gym in the season finale. Forman led 17 to 4 after one quarter, but Easton led 19 to 17 at halftime and held the lead through the final whistle.
During Scout Week the Scout Meeting Hall hosted parents for an open event. Dennis Woiwode led the program while Pat Lynch welcomed guests and Kenny Bender spoke on Scouting origin. Three new scouts earned Tenderfoot rank as bingo prizes were shared.
Lieut and Mrs Ernest Archambeau of Fort Sill Oklahoma spent a twenty four hour visit with the Roush family in the city going on to Fort Monmouth New Jersey where Lieut Archambeau will be stationed for three months He was recalled from reserve duty in the signal corps in late December and has been at Fort Sill since then.
Rotarian Don Parkin introduced Caroll Winterstein Havana as guest speaker at the Manilo Rotary Club meeting. Winterstein, assistant state attorney of Mason County, gave an excellent talk on juvenile delinquency. Visitors Lyle Wheeler and Eddie Walker of Havana attended. A few tickets remain for the lecture series opening with Louis J. Albers on Friday evening March 14.
The weekly edition notes fondness for readers as former editors Albert A. DeVore and Mayme Seelye present the issue and express satisfaction with the rough copy assembly and hopeful reception.
