Forman Loses First Game of Season at Athens

Forman journeyed to Athens on Tuesday night and dropped the season opener. Athens led 3-0 after the first quarter and 36-35 at halftime. In the final period Athens outscored Forman 18 to 11 to seal a 67 57 loss.

Surprize Party Honors Mrs. Johnson Birthday

A surprise birthday party for Mrs. Christine Johnson was hosted by Mrs. Joseph Sparks on Tuesday evening. Tables of fifty, prizes for Emma Hart Eva Wilson Kathryn Hamilton Lorraine Meyer, and a three course luncheon with a large birthday cake were featured.

Rotary Club Meeting Features Caterpillar Speaker

Vernon Langston served as program chairman for the Mainto Rotary Club gathering. Edward Whitaker of Caterpillar Tractor Co. spoke, sharing overseas pictures from Japan and Okinawa, with Byron Bartell assisting. The club will dismiss after meals for basketball games at Forman Gym for the next two weeks.

Forman FFA Grain Show Team Wins Big at Delavan Sectional

The Forman F F A grain judging team scored a record point total at the sectional event in Delavan among 15 teams and 75 boys from Mason Fulton and Tazewell counties. Fred Friedrich earned a blue first place individual ribbon and Eldon Wahlfeld took a red second, with Lawrence Meyer Marvin Quick and Stanley Noll also on the Forman team.

The Mason County Home Bureau Board met December 1 at the Farm Bureau Building. Reports show 498 members with 10 new this month, 20 associate members and 58 guests. 4-Hers plan a chili supper to honor leaders on December 6. Cookbooks sold total 1197 through December 1. Scrap-book project approved again. Landscaping project to run three years. Home Bureau Play Day set for February 13 with District II hosts. Winter Handicraft Clubs Grow In Area

Last year saw the first four winter Hand icraft clubs organized by Mrs. Gerald Patterson. This winter the Happy Hour Club returns with 12 girls taking advanced work. New clubs include Havana Hustlers with 22 girls, Mason City Handy Helpers with 10, Snicarte Go-Getters with 9, all meeting weekly as spring club work nears.
