Forman School to Open August 29 With Short Morning Session

Forman Community Unit Schools start August 29. Buses run that morning with route changes. students should prepare early. Classes from 9 to 12, first day for enrollment and book issues. rentals apply for grades and high school text books. Medical exams planned for select grades and athletes after school starts. Rental rates: Grade School 3.50 to 8.75. High School 3.75 to 4.75.

Illinois Selective Service sets October induction total

Local boards must furnish 2680 men for October 1952 under Illinois quota. Colonel Paul G. Armstrong reports 5.7 percent of the national 47000. Illinois will draw from registrants who reach age 20 by October 1952. Inductions began August 28, 1950, with a peak in January 1952 of 6138 and releases begin as 24 month service limits expire.

Social Security Announces Three Act Changes

Three changes to Old-Age and Survivors Insurance become effective next month. Beneficiaries will see higher automatic increases on September checks arriving after October 1. Earnings limit rises to 75 dollars per month for beneficiaries and self employed workers, with U S armed forces service after 1946 now creditable.

James Meyer son of Mr and Mrs William Meyer entered St Frances Hospital and underwent a major operation to remove his left eye. An injury at age eight caused blurred vision and six years of total blindness with occasional eye pains. He plans to return to the University of Tl for his sophomore year in September.

Plans for the 24th annual homecoming on the Pekin high school campus on Thursday August 21 are advancing. President W C Langston and a large committee coordinate a full program featuring Rony Fink Bonnie Lee Pekin Community acrobats and dancers Billy Meyer and his wonder horse Pitchpipers barbershop group Mason City community band and Kooster orchestra. Afternoon festivities begin 1 30 p m and the evening program at 6 30 p m A cafeteria style chicken dinner will be served at noon and 4 30 p m with merchandise awards and 100 silver dollars awarded in competitions throughout the day.

Gore Family Celebrates Birthday and Anniversary in Galesburg

In Galesburg on Sunday Mr. and Mrs. V. G. Gore and George W. Meyer visited Mrs. Glenn C. Core and her son Stephen. The visit marked Stephen’s first birthday and the 37th wedding anniversary of the Gores. Capt. Glenn C. Gore, overseas from Camp Stone Man, Calif., was awaited for news.
