Forman Community Unit Schools start August 29. Buses run that morning with route changes. students should prepare early. Classes from 9 to 12, first day for enrollment and book issues. rentals apply for grades and high school text books. Medical exams planned for select grades and athletes after school starts. Rental rates: Grade School 3.50 to 8.75. High School 3.75 to 4.75.

D J Powell minister leads church school at 9:45 a m with F E Bender as superintendent. No preaching services are planned.
Rev. Joseph W. Hobbs pastor A. D. Meeker Sunday School at 10:00 a m and Morning Worship at 11:00 a m CST. Mr and Mrs Pat Ryan and daughter Shelley and Mrs Dillard Warner were Wednesday callers at Geo Bilyeu home with daughter Cynthia. Ryan, enrolled at Normal University, finished his summer course and they were leaving for St Joseph Michigan the next day.
Pub and Mrs Walter DeVore and son Walter Eugene along with Mrs Leona DeVore of Willow Springs Missouri spent the weekend in Waukesha Wisconsin visiting the elder Mrs DeVores sister and family.
Local boards must furnish 2680 men for October 1952 under Illinois quota. Colonel Paul G. Armstrong reports 5.7 percent of the national 47000. Illinois will draw from registrants who reach age 20 by October 1952. Inductions began August 28, 1950, with a peak in January 1952 of 6138 and releases begin as 24 month service limits expire.
Three changes to Old-Age and Survivors Insurance become effective next month. Beneficiaries will see higher automatic increases on September checks arriving after October 1. Earnings limit rises to 75 dollars per month for beneficiaries and self employed workers, with U S armed forces service after 1946 now creditable.
Mr and Mrs Louis Talbott and daughter Mary Ann visited relatives last Friday. Mrs Talbott and Mary Ann stayed a week with Mr and Mrs Robert Hilling while Mr Talbott travels on a week long business trip in the north.
Saturday evening visitors to Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Meyer included Mr. and Mrs. Fred Albrecht and family from Pekin, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wiebler from Peoria, and Mrs. Edward Cline of St. Louis Missouri.
Mrs. Henry Vogel of Sterling Colorado and Carl Vogel of San Jose visited sister Mrs. Anna Reed. It marked Mrs Reed's first reunion with Henry Vogel in nearly forty years as the group attended a Vogel family gathering at Pekin Park.
Public sale at the home of Less Roof located 1.5 miles south and 3 miles west of Forest City. The entire dairy herd will be auctioned starting at 12 noon CST on Tuesday September 2. Auctioneers are J. B. Zo brist and Wm. (Cuddy) Wallace.
Patrolman Ray Hawkins fills in for Bill Isenberg as night watchman for two weeks while Isenberg takes a vacation. Hawkins is covering duties in the city patrol roster and ensuring security during the absence.
James Meyer son of Mr and Mrs William Meyer entered St Frances Hospital and underwent a major operation to remove his left eye. An injury at age eight caused blurred vision and six years of total blindness with occasional eye pains. He plans to return to the University of Tl for his sophomore year in September.
Mr. Charles Worner recovers from an operation performed at Methodist Hospital last Wednesday. While still hospitalized he expects to return home soon.
Mr and Mrs Eugene Patchett welcomed a seven pound 13 ounce son born last Friday evening at Pekin Public Hospital. The newborn has an older sister and brother and arrived home with his mother Tuesday afternoon.
Mr and Mrs Paul Meeker announce the arrival of their first child a daughter born August 15 at Pekin Hospital The mother is Donna Lee Callaway The maternal grandmother is Bertha Callaway and the paternal grandparents are Mr and Mrs Sam Meeker The child has been named Linda Lee
Jim Cranwill stayed overnight with relatives on Saturday during a two week Minnesota vacation with his wife and child. He continued to Springfield with plans for a New York City business trip for his Insurance Co following extended visits with his wife's parents in Minnesota.
Mrs Eva Wilson is enjoying a week's vacation visiting at the homes of Mr and Mrs Jesse Boice of Peoria and Mr and Mrs Wm Wilson Pekin.
Plans for the 24th annual homecoming on the Pekin high school campus on Thursday August 21 are advancing. President W C Langston and a large committee coordinate a full program featuring Rony Fink Bonnie Lee Pekin Community acrobats and dancers Billy Meyer and his wonder horse Pitchpipers barbershop group Mason City community band and Kooster orchestra. Afternoon festivities begin 1 30 p m and the evening program at 6 30 p m A cafeteria style chicken dinner will be served at noon and 4 30 p m with merchandise awards and 100 silver dollars awarded in competitions throughout the day.
Personnel at Forman and Forest City districts named with roles from superintendent to janitors and bus drivers. Listings include teachers across grades, department heads for arts and sciences, and a full roster of bus numbers and cooks.
The Golden Links Sunday School Class of Manito Methodist Church will hold its annual class picnic Sunday August 24 at Mineral Springs Park Pekin. A basket dinner will be enjoyed at the noon hour. All class members families and guests are invited.
The Forman Unit Schools invite bids to supply stoker coal for Egg-lump Forman Jr High in Egg-lump Forest City Manito and Forman Sr High in Manito Illinois. Bids must state type brand and delivered price per ton and be sent to Superintendent Leonard O Hewitt Manito by August 28 1952.
Miss Alice Conover visits Warsaw after a week with Mrs. Mabel Schierbeck. She led the Music Department at Forman Community School Unit for two years and plans to head Bloomington Jr High School music next year. She spent the summer pursuing a Master’s at Normal University.
In Galesburg on Sunday Mr. and Mrs. V. G. Gore and George W. Meyer visited Mrs. Glenn C. Core and her son Stephen. The visit marked Stephen’s first birthday and the 37th wedding anniversary of the Gores. Capt. Glenn C. Gore, overseas from Camp Stone Man, Calif., was awaited for news.
