Parkland residents hosted and were visited by neighbors this weekend. Sunday noon guests included Mr. and Mrs. Francis Williams and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. McLaughlin with after noon callers Mrs. Harry Meyer and others. Additional Saturday visits featured Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wright and Mrs. Howard Braten of Peoria with Ernest DeSutter family, plus Miss Juanita Page visiting Pekin.
The American Legion Mason Co. Council in Mason County Illinois starts its annual magazine subscription drive to fund portable adjustable hospital beds with mattresses for home use. Equipment will be housed for free public access in Bath Easton Forest City Havana Kilbourne Manita Mason City San Jose Topeka and nearby rural areas, with authorized publishers' reps explaining the plan.

Mr and Mrs W F Donley were Tuesday callers of Mr and Mrs Verne Herrman and family. A 3c Donald Runyon spent a week with his parents and brother Keith, leaving Friday for Odes A F B Mass. He has just completed his training in Radar Operators School at Keesler Miss.
O A Borchelt, minister presents the week at St Pauls Lutheran Church Manito with Sunday School at 9 30 a m and Divine Service at 10 20 a m.
D J Powell, minister at Manito Methodist Church invites members to Sunday School at 9 45 a m and Morning Worship at 10 45 a m CST The message centers on Christians acting as ministers in Christ s cause with Paul as an example The organist George Ethell will play Supplication and Heavenly Light The adult choir will sing a selected anthem and the sermon is When Faith Becomes Flattened Regular reverent attendance is urged.
Spring Lake Church led by Paul N. Roger holds daylight time services with Bible study for all ages and a 7:30 p.m. evening service. The church planned a Thursday visit to Bacon Mission in Peoria to assist its rescue mission program. Rev. Sigl oversees Bacon Mission.
Dr Louis A Lynch a Manito resident died at St Luke s Hospital Chicago at 9 30 p m Friday April 24 1953 after a short illness He was born May 22 1906 in Ludlow IL son of Charles Lynch He married Christine Furrer March 4 1932 in Havana He is survived by his widow two children John Patrick and Mary Helen his father three sisters two brothers and a number of relatives He practiced dentistry in Pekin since 1946 and previously in Easton Cuba Lewistown He was a Major in the Military Service 1941 1945 and 1946 1947 Funeral services were held at Manito Methodist Church burial at Easton Cemetery with Hill Palmer American Legion Post in charge of rites and music by George Ethell.
