Russia Eyes Kangaroos for Zoos Amid War Strain
War time reports say Moscow Zoo sent a gyntaiber of Australian dingoes to Kiev and Kharkov as German forces occupied towns. The notion of sending kangaroos and emus to Jos Tak as a token of woodwill arose to fill empty Russian zoos larders with live animals. War correspondent Flomer Smith cabled that kangaroos and emus were requested when Australian Legation members toured a Kubishey Kindergarten and children asked for live kangaroos.
