The Namoi Regional Library Committee noted Miss Craig’s resignation at year end due to ill health and the council thanked her for her service. The Taxpayers Association urged opposition to a state land tax. the council will cooperate in a campaign against it. The engineer flagged road conditions worsened by dry weather and planned repairs when possible. Outstanding rates of about £300 were approved for legal action to recover.

Methodist Synod in New South Wales set for tour
A regional Methodist Synod in New South Wales will commence Monday and run through Thursday. It spans twelve circuits and the N W Mission with thirteen ministers and twenty four laymen, covering towns from Tenterfield to Moree and including Tamworth, Gunnedah, Narrabri, Armidale, Inverell, Guyra, Tingha, and Manilla. Services begin Monday at 4 pm in the church, with a Tuesday 7 30 am service, and the official Synod service at 7 30 pm Tuesday. Luncheon and civic welcome held at Methodist Hall. Conversations and sessions run Tuesday to Thursday, with delegates housed in local homes and luncheons in the hall. Public invited to attend.

Boundary changes sought for Mandowa and Liverpool Plains shires
The South Western landholders seek altered boundaries to take 57 square miles from Mandowa Shire and attach to Liverpool Plains Shire. Bounded by Peel River to the south Namoi River to the north and west and by Cockburn Mondowa Shires to the east, the proposal will be sent to the Minister for Local Government for Governor approval. A petition from affected landholders will be collected.

Com Meeting Adopts New Committeeman and Society Aims
Sixteen members attended as President Chalenace welcomed new committeeman J Brady. Brady thanked the President and pledged to help the Society. Drummond urged the establishment of new slopes via the State Member for Tamworth W A Chaffey. Fence repairs at the Showground were referred to the Works Committee. The Clerk said the Council would loan funds for trotting track work with charges fixed. A demand for selling show buttons was refused. Brady urged grandstand repairs for safety. Deputation from the Society to discuss showers near horse stalls was planned. The Finance Committee will consider a grant and invite representation from the Society.

No Light On Manilla Court Petty Sessions
Manilla resident Mervyn Sutherland was fined 1 shilling for riding a bicycle at night without a light on Manilla Street. Police testified the time was about 19:10 on a Wednesday in August. He admitted awareness of the wrongdoing when questioned.
