Two Months Hard Labour for Ill-Treated Horse Case
In Manilla Court of Petty Sessions on Wednesday S M Hodgson sentenced Monte Sing of West Manilla to two months imprisonment with hard labour for ill treating a horse described as revolting and inhuman. The horse suffered severe injuries including a swollen hind leg and exposed bone. the constable testified the horse was destroyed. Sing pleaded not guilty and did not appear. case stood over briefly.

Fence Replacement and Field Day Planned in Tamworth
At Fridays meeting of the Manilla Pastures Protection Board a fence on the western side of the Low Level Bridge was approved for replacement as labour allows. A Tamworth District Organiser advised a Field Day at Farrar Agricultural High School on October 16 and 17 with day one focused on machinery display and day two on demonstrations and plots. The Minister for Commerce and Agriculture is to be asked for a further wheat payment and to repay tax monies from prior pools. A separate court matter notes a horse neglect case with the offender facing a likely appeal against a sentence.
