Lieutenant W A Chaffey thanks electors for support
Lieutenant W A Chaffey returns and thanks the electors for the honour conferred. He notes appreciation from those with differing views and vows to stay in uniform to serve the electorate. He recalls wartime travels across Australia and Territories and stresses the soldier’s life involves human contact and understanding of individual problems. He cites Churchill on Britain’s future glory and urges contributing to progress rather than basking in past deeds. He expresses optimism for peace and best wishes for district affairs as May 144.
