Lady Dinah wins Manilla Cup at big meeting
Manilla Race Club opened under perfect skies with a big crowd and the largest postwar turnout. Lady Dinah sprinted clear to win the Manilla Cup by four lengths ahead of Pembroke with Gay Drift and Bonny Romance in the frame as Trug Tide Ted faded. Wade rode Lady Dinah for owner P. G. Smith, who praised the horse’s prep while presenting the cup. Races earlier saw Rav ic dominate the Flying Smartly and Arinya win the First Improvers Handicap, with Jade taking the Maiden, Mararov scoring in the Two Year Old event, and La Ronde winning the Second Improvers division.
