Manilla Spastic Council raises funds for Centre
At the Manilla and District Spastic Centre Council meeting treasurer L Campbell reported total funds of £172 13 11 raised since June last year. £1100 has been remitted to the Centre at Mosman with Rotary contributions £66 0 10 and receipts from boxes, staff deductions, other donations and events making up the balance. A local family is helped to attend examinations and treatment for a spastic child.

Mandowa Shire Council Notes Noxious Weeds and Road Fixes
The Mandowa Shire Council met in the council chambers with Cr G S R Park presiding. Attendees included F R Heywood M Park A Hi Gallagher B V Byrnes. Dr Bowman absent in Sydney. Weeds were being destroyed on council roads and owners urged to maintain control as rains bring growth. The council resolved to enforce destruction of Sweet Briar Blackberry and Tree Tobacco, proclaimed noxious across New South Wales. Road concerns covered requests for repairs to Kimberley road, West Manilla routes, and bus-route maintenance pending grader redeployment after Barraba Trunk road work. A post office stamp issue, replacing King George VI, was announced for April 21 1953 with subsequent 1d and 3d stamps planned.
