Francis P Hayes of Arthur St Manilla faced the Manilla Court of Petty Sessions on a charge of driving a motor vehicle under alcohol. He pleaded guilty and was discharged conditionally on a £30 recognisance with one surety for two years, as a bond under section 556 of the Crimes Act.
A correction notes that last Tuesday's Ambulance meeting report misstated the annual ball date. The correct date is July Ivth 1953.
Alfred Roy Sing of North Manilla was fined a total £15 at Wednesday's Court of Petty Sessions on three charges including permitting an unlicensed driver to use his motor vehicle, using an unregistered vehicle, and using an uninsured vehicle. Sing admitted ownership of two vehicles and allowance of Arthur G. Martin to drive without a licence. Martin received £3 for driving without a licence, £3 for unregistered vehicle use, and £5 for uninsured vehicle use. Gunnedah: Memorial Rate Committee claims £20,000 in cash to complete Baths project.
Thomas H. Avard was fined £2 by the S.M. Mr Hodgson in Wednesday's Petty Sessions Court for not signaling a right turn. Police said he drove east along Court Street and turned into Arthur Street without giving a hand signal while traffic flowed heavily.
John F P O Neill of Rowan Street was fined £2 for riding a motorcycle without a driver’s licence. He also paid £2 for carrying a pillion passenger and for not holding a rider’s licence for 12 months. Brian Jackson, owner of the motorcycle, was fined 10 shillings for allowing an unlicensed rider to use the machine.
