At a Manilla association meeting John Coote urged government action to stop waste of rabbit flesh and to establish freezing chambers for rabbits in suitable districts. He noted rabbits sent to Tamworth freezing works and argued for government release of machines to build a Manilla freezing chamber to cut transport costs amid demand in Britain and Europe. He also suggested using rabbits for food whey and preserving colors with borax in water.
