Mandowa Shire Council Meeting Notes and Field Day Postponement
The Mandowa Shire Council met on Friday with President G. B. RK. Park in the chair. Dr. Park mourned the death of Mr. P M Bailey, a long-time employee, and sympathy was offered to his family. Field Day at Reg Hill Barraba on Mr. F J Bowman’s property was postponed due to rain and will be held today. Council discussed mail service improvements, flood damage at Halls Creek crossings, clearing rubbish from the Mandowa Road Bridge, widening the bend near Halls Creek Hall, and considering a by-pass cutting to bypass four crossings on Spring Creek Road, with the engineer to report at the next meeting.

Ambulance Ball Draws Small Crowd At Memorial Hall
Between 250-275 attendees gathered Friday night for the Ambulance Ball in Memorial Hall to aid the Manilla Ambulance Service. The event opened late around 9:15 pm with remarks by Tamworth district and Manilla ambulance officials. Music by Pavy and Ms Philip, and the Ambulance Ladies Auxiliary received praise for supper arrangements.

Art Union to be drawn at 9 p m August 5th
The Manilla Agricultural Society holds an Art Union on August 5 at 9 pm with three prizes. First prize is a Austin A-40 Salon motor car, second prize a refrigerator, third prize a wireless. Tickets cost £1 and are sold by D E Hunt, secretary, or local vendors. Proceeds fund showground improvements.
