Three Sons Echoes of Loss on an Australian Farm
Old Man Shaw rides to the hill paddock on the eve of the anniversary of Bob's death. He recalls sons Bill Jack and Bob who served in the AIF, Malaya and Milne Bay, and the strain of waiting for news. The homestead, long-held by a soldier settler, feels emptied as Sue's children linger and the old man considers bringing Bob's pony for his newest grandson.
