Coronation Arches to Crown The Mall With Lamps and Statues
Four 65 foot tubular steel and wire mesh arches will be erected between Buckingham Palace and Admiralty Arch in Trafalgar Square for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Floodlit at night, each arch will bear two lions and two unicorns raising the height by 20 feet, with a Princess’s coronet suspended from the center. The procession will pass under the arches on its route to Westminster Abbey and back to Buckingham Palace.

Annual School Fete Opens With Win for Funds
The annual School Fete was held on the school grounds on Friday March Reith. The event drew a large crowd and finished with brisk sales at stalls. Vice-president J. C. Mackenzie opened proceedings and presented captain badges to school leaders Colleen Cocking James Elliott and other class captains. Prizes were awarded for weight guessing dairy, distance, film star, and other contests with many names listed among winners and donors thanked.

Manilla Faces East Tamworth in Opening Football Meet
East Tamworth won all three senior matches in the season opener at Manilla. The first grade, led by captain-coach Keith Clarke, lost 26 to 0 despite tries by Ivan Bennett and Tan Laidlow with two goals from Jim Browning. The second grade fell 18 to 2 while Rast Tamworth won 18 to 2 in the match with missing locals. Next Sunday the Seconds should be at full strength and a stronger first-grade lineup is anticipated against North Tamworth at the focal oval.
