A Manatee county plea calls residents to unite in enterprise and progress to counteract the expected dull season. The editorial urges widespread citizen effort rather than relying on a few to spark prosperity for the coming four to five months.
A vintage advertisement touts Herbine as a cure for indigestion and a range of symptoms including heartburn, liver torpidity, constipation, headaches, and foul tongue. It claims a 50 cent bottle available through J. M. Samuel.
The Record notes L. G. Connell departed weeks ago to become assistant manager of the Grey Stone Inn in Jamestown. Andrew E. Beck left for Jamestown this week to take a position with Mr. Connell. The paper wishes them success and may visit during the exposition.
The county court will convene Monday with Judge J. J. Stewart presiding and Robert H. Roesch as clerk Sheriff M. H. Wyatt will manage prisoners and County Solicitor John B. Singeltary will prosecute. Many cases transferred from the circuit court will start the term, expected to be lengthy as the court aims to clear the docket. Claude L Engle libel case may dominate proceedings if brought to trial.

The Manatee area shows rapid vegetable expansion with over 100 car loads of celery moved this season. Seaboard moved about 80 cars, rest by steamer, marking the heaviest celery shipment yet. Refrigeration kept most goods marketable though icing shortage caused some losses. prices were generally satisfactory for local truckers. Fresh seeds offered by Lloyd & Ov's.
The Record announces a meeting of fruit and vegetable growers in Manatee Saturday at 4 PM to organize a fruit and vegetable association. All growers are urged to attend and participate, with leadership and conservative management seen as vital. The session will be at John J. Pelot’s office in the Central Hotel block.
G W Cloyd of Plunk Missouri recounts a near amputation four years ago after injuring his thumb. He refused amputation and used Bucklen’s Arnica Salve, which cured the dangerous wound. 25 cents at J M Samuel's druggist.
Depot work began this week with sand filling a wash-out to be covered by clay. Depot Agent Owen said the aim is to improve grounds around the depot and install electric lights, a move expected to be appreciated by the public.
A plea notes that a bit more rain would greatly improve conditions right now, urging timely precipitation to ease agricultural and water concerns.
The Manatee Well Drilling Company with W. D. Holcomb as manager will begin operations in weeks after shipping a new traction type well machine. K. W. Wiggins' in Manatee remains the go to place for goods. The Village Improvement Association once chaired by fourteen members appears extinct. Mrs. A. H. Brown turned over eight fifty in dues to Dr. Gates to aid the school house fence project.
The Senate approved bill No 88 on its third reading by a 12 to 10 tally. It bans employing minors under a set age in factories and various establishments, sets parental duties, imposes penalties, and moves to the House with expectations of passage into law.
Advertisement claiming Mr. King's New Life Pills prevent appendixes from causing alimony, with a humorous pitch that the pill keeps bowels regular. Promoted as guaranteed by J. M. Samuel, druggist, for 25 cents.
G W Routh a woodman and mover keeps a blind horse used for work. Last week the horse frightened by escaping steam charged a nearby building and crashed into a wall tearing the wagon. the horse was knocked down but not killed and is ready to work again.

Chas H Combs and family depart for Punta Gorda to oversee Lock Joint Pipe Co projects there for about two years. Charlie will later be joined by Jack O Curry who currently runs the firm’s Pensacola operations. The note mentions Bazaar promotions and construction supplies at Adams.
The Florida House advances a two and one half cent railroad fare bill amid a backlog of minor measures. Eight county division proposals loom, while state uniformity school books draw heavy attention as sessions drag on. The Senate may kill the fare bill, though prospects remain uncertain.
The Record notes two Manatee men plan a Bradenton bottling plant now complete and ready to operate by early next week. Artesian Bottling Works will produce sodas and bottled goods from pure distilled artesian water with a specialty in distilled water delivery. George C. Patten and R. J. Stevens own the company.
By mutual consent and due to ill health W D Holcomb sells his interest in the Well Machine business and all contracts to J N Taylor. The firm becomes Taylor and Son and will continue to operate the well business as before guaranteeing satisfaction in every particular.
A large shark was reportedly seen in a river and captured after hours of effort. When opened, the carcass allegedly contained a center table, three boxes of oranges, and a boy with his mother and grandmother at a table eating oranges.
There are automobiles and automobiles, but about the slickest little machine we have seen in a long time is the one owned by A. H. Brown. It is a thing of beauty and goes down the pike at a lickity-split gate. John's Asbestos paints for out side and Alabastine for inside work always in stock at Adams'.
Maj. A. J. Adams continues to ship oranges and grapefruit with many boxes ready for market. He reports strong demand and fancy prices for the fruit now being shipped from his orchards.
Ed Lloyd the cigar man owns a handsome river launch now housed and prepared for fishing. Florida Favorite watermelon seed is sold by Lloyd & Co. K. W. Wiggins repairs the Manatee dock and promises a thorough job despite a prior citrus rush. Ice cream freezers of all sizes are offered by Wiggins. The Record notes the steel cage removal from the trolley depot calaboose, moving the eye sore to the old blacksmith shop for better sightlines.
The Board of County Commissioners will meet Monday morning in regular session and the Board of Public Instruction will meet Tuesday morning.
