Earthquake near City of Mexico causes extensive destruction

An earthquake lasting four and a half minutes struck near the City of Mexico on a Sunday night. Shocks were heaviest at four nearby points, reports say many lives were lost and areas were wrecked. Subsequent reports indicate the disaster is worse than first feared as thousands become homeless.
