Manatee County Board Minutes Discuss Roads and Oysters

The Manatee County Commissioners met April 6 1908. They tabled oyster planting petitions and a road grant, opened bids for Bay Shore road cleanup, and approved a public road plan near Oneco and Clam Bar Bay. The county treasurer reported funds across several accounts and warrants were issued. the meeting adjourned to May.

Tribute of Respect for Mrs Julia Pelot in Manatee

Tribute honors Julia Pelot a 68 year old Florida native who lived much of her life in Manatee county. The obituary notes her Christian faith, selfless care for siblings and children, and quiet illness before a burial described with religious verses. Subscribers urged to renew before postal deadline

Manatee Record issues notice to subscribers in arrears to renew within three months for dailies and twelve months for weeklies or be stricken from the mailing list. The post office ruling enforces nonrenewed subscriptions at adjusted rates, and publishers will not be responsible beyond obedience to the order.

School Board Sits in Bradenton on March April 1908

Manatee County Florida school board meets in regular session led by Chairman A F Wyman. They read and approve the March minutes, review the county treasurer’s March report, grant a southwest Braden River petition establishing Homewood School No 24 with James R Ernest as supervisor, and discuss building costs and expansions at Parrish and Terra Ceia. Appointments fill Palmetto school vacancies due to resignations and a death, with Marion Courtney replacing the late J N McLean. The board adjourns to May 5 1908.

Hull Plans County Tour After Manatee Stop

A. F. Hull, candidate for representative, passed through Manatee last week on his way home. He said conditions looked good everywhere and he would immediately begin a tour of the entire county.

Burrs Announcement to Florida Voters Endorses Stockton for Governor

Florida April 9 1908 Burr declares he will not seek the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in 1908 and endorses Hon Stockton for governor citing shared principles of government by the people. Mayor Thomas R. Easterling issues a call for a general election in Manatee Florida to elect one Mayor one Clerk one Tax Assessor one Tax Collector one Marshall three Councilmen for one year and two for two years on the first Tuesday in May 1908. The notice is dated March 16 1908.

A mass meeting at Gates Hall formed a Manatee Board of Trade with about twenty members. Officers elected include President Frank A. Two more governors will be chosen at the next Friday night meeting.

Easter Services at Methodist Church Manatee

Easter services will be held at the Manatee Methodist Church with morning preaching on the resurrection and an evening 7:30 song service of easy carols before the sermon.
