Henderson hosts report lists numerous area families visiting from Lan sing Michigan Omaha Council Bluffs and Malvern with attendees at Henderson Christian and Methodist churches. It also covers church services Sunday School M Y F and WSCS activities plus social visits, festivals, and local gatherings across Emerson Red Oak Treynor Menlo and Malvern with several residents traveling or hosting events.
Henderson News correspondent reports a busy weekend of social visits across Emerson, Red Oak, Lincoln, Omaha, Macedonia, Council Bluffs, and Manitou. Many families including the Bowens, Winchesters, But terfields, Stephens, Randolps, and Spiegels share meals, picnics, and Sunday calls, with travel between Iowa and Nebraska towns and five generation portraits captured by the Randolphs.
Mr and Mrs T C Shook announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter Barbara LaRue to Gordon Leon Frink son of Mr and Mrs C A Frink of Henderson October 25 has been set as the wedding date. Other items note social visits reorganizations and local movements among area families and individuals.
Wesley News reports Dwight Parker sold his trailer to Mr. Fleet and moved it to the parsonage yard. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Parker plan a vacation to Yellowstone and the Dakotas, starting Wednesday. Rev and Mrs Clement Rowes attended a ministers picnic at Kiwanis Point in Council Bluffs. Sherry Rowe and Doris Morris hosted a slumber party with Carol Agell and Bonnie Stefford attending. Kathleen Deitchler underwent appendicitis surgery at Mercy Hospital then returned home. Carol traveled to Ames to start college freshman year, while Karen Deitcher prepared for her second year at Studies in Ames.
Plans completed for Guest Day on September 17 at 2 PM at Wesley Chapel Church. Stella Lisle will review the book Dear and Glorious Physician by Taylor Caldwell. Nearby residents and church members attended Sunday School events and visited relatives in Omaha and Lincoln during Labor Day weekend.
The annual Wilson Ridlen reunion hosted by Mr. and Mrs. John Wilson drew 54 attendees from Ida Grove Coin Council Bluffs Hancock Des Moines and Chicago. Guests included Dwight Parker who left for Wichita Kan to resume studies at the university. Several local families shared visits and dinner gatherings over the weekend with church activities and a Farm Bureau event noted.
Mr and Mrs Edwin McGrew attended the state fair in Lincoln Sunday. Mrs Ben Wilson joined the Family Living Committee at Mrs Harold Skerritt s Silver City home Tuesday afternoon. They plan pi pan s for the Holiday Hints Festival to be held Oct 20 at Malvern. Mr and Mrs Larry Plumb Carol McKensie of Carson and Darrell Plumb attended the state fair in Des Moines Saturday. Park Plumb stayed with grandparents Mr and Mrs Marion Plumb during his parents absence. Mr and Mrs Faye Butterfield attended the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines Wednesday and Nebraska State Fair in Lincoln Tuesday.
The Randolph Business Women's club schedules a children's parade on Main Street for the annual Fall Festival Saturday September 26. The theme is Song Titles and features three sections for preschoolers, kindergarten, and first and second grades.
The notice invites local youngsters to join a parade with prize divisions for grades one through eight. Prizes are five dollars for first, three for second, and two for third. Judges will judge original neatness and effective characterization of entries. Nearby callers listed include Mrs. Ted Hetzel and Shirley of Tabor and others. Funeral services were held Monday for Mrs. Linda Stewart of Shenandoah at St John Episcopal Church in Shenandoah. Warren Wilson and family visited in the R. H. Wilson home on Saturday night.
