Lura Beckwith Named MCHS Senior of the Week by Bonnie Spiker

Lura Beckwith daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J. R. Beckwith is featured. She has participated in band speech and basketball, carries five subjects including American problems English literature French Latin and physiology. She plans to study Russian at State University of Iowa to become an interpreter and enjoys reading coin collecting and horseback riding. Her favorite things span burgundy color food song Moon River Shelly Berman basketball and swimming. She praises MCHS for its size teachers and curriculum and humorously says she enjoyed everything except 9th period. Good luck to Lura in the future.

FFA Team Wins First in Sheep Judging at Maryville

Malvern FFA stock judging team won first place at the Maryville Missouri invitational on November 17. Three team members Bob Burgoin Dean Hunt and Richard Roenfeld plus alternates Bob Wray and Jil Clay traveled to Northwest Missouri State to judge hogs sheep and cattle. Richard Roenfeld posted the top individual score for the team.

Harvest Dance a Hit for Seniors

Seniors enjoyed a Harvest Moon themed gathering last Saturday featuring mixers and contests. Myrna McMillan won the first broom dance and again placed with her partner in the second round. Clifford and Kathy Scott were crowned King and Queen of the Twist. Don Knop captured Limbo and Jerry Cartwright won Dozen? nize. Cider and doughnuts provided refreshments.

Christmas Ball and Party Planned by Student Council

Plang for the Christmas Ball and Christmas party were started when the MCNS student council met Nov. 16. Committees for the ball were named and will give progress reports at the next meeting. Council members will decorate the school Dec. 10 for the holiday season. The members set up a tentative budget which will be posted in the homerooms to give the students an opportunity to express their opinion on it. A report was given on the money received from the sale of activity tickets. Having a gab room was discussed and the majority were in favor of it.

New Shoes for Cheer Leaders at MCHS

Last Wednesday the MCHS cheerleaders went to Shenandoah for a shopping trip and bought new black shoes to match the orange and black color scheme. They will wear black sweaters with orange M and black and orange pleated skirts, plus orange socks. The group was accompanied by sponsor Mrs. Al Seim.

Chili Supper Draws About 300 Attendees

The FFA FHA sponsored a chili supper last Friday night at the Malvern and Glenwood basketball game. Approximately 300 people were served chili, pia and drink during and after the game. Proceeds will be shared between the two groups.

Former Pastor to Speak at Strahan

The Rev. Lester Hall, former pastor of the Malvern Strahan Parish, will be home in Strahan for the week of November 26 to 29 preaching each evening at 7 80 except Wednesday when he will show slides from his Palestine trip. The public is invited to all services.

Wesley Chapel Sees Sermon by Teele and Potluck Return

Wesley Chapel will host Dist Sept Henry Teele of Council Bluffs delivering the morning sermon at 11 a m this Sunday November 26 followed by a return trip to Henderson for a pot luck dinner. WaCs study course ends with final lesson on Asia's Rim

The WaCs study course on Asia's Rim will hold its last meeting on November 28 at 2 p m. A film strip will be shown and explanations given on actions to be taken for aid in school and related topics covered during the course.

Starts New Bible Study Course

The first session of the Bible Study course on The Sermon on the Mount was held Sunday evening at the parsonage led by Rev. Rowe.
