Spotlight on the Social Scene at Methodist Church

The Methodist church social began at 1 30 pm with a festive table arrangement of firs and leaves. Hostesses included Mrs Eula Ellison Mrs Robert Campbell and Mrs Wm Blackburn. The next meeting is Dec 4 with hostesses Mrs Geo Mort Mrs Gale Cronkhite and Mrs Warren Darrah. A pot luck Christmas luncheon and a $1 gift exchange will follow at Mrs Ralph Bowers home. Gifts may be made or bought.

United Methodist Women Hold Regular Meeting Nov 6

The November UMW meeting met in the church Fellowship hall with president's opening prayer. Guest speaker Behrens, a Malvern Schools counselor, shared a film based program. Mrs Kline and Mrs Atkinson attended as guests. a rest home service plan was formed with the minister. Officer training set for Nov 10.

Special Service for OES Meeting Nov 18 at Masonic Temple

Silver Urn Chapter 168 Malvern holds regular meeting on Tuesday Nov 18 at the Masonic Temple with a memorial service for deceased members of the past year. Memorial gifts will be given to the Chapter. A special ESTARL collection will support Eastern Star Training Awards for Religious Leaders. Food and craft sale planned for Saturday Nov 22 at Larrys Hardware Store starting 10 o’clock. Reports from attendees of the Annual Grand Chapter Session in Davenport. Oklahoma visitors entertained by Mrs Janie Menschel and local families during a week of visits and gatherings from Pacific Junction to Glenwood.

LIN Club Met Nov 5 With Gladys Steele Hat Day

The LIN Club met at Mrs. J M Steele’s home on Wednesday afternoon November 3. Members wore hats and shared something about theirs while playing Thanksgiving themed pencil games. Visitor Mrs. Percy Atkinson of Carmichael California joined. Members contributed fruit for a basket delivered to local shut ins. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Steele Mrs. Galen Hunt and Mrs. Ray Trively.

Open House Honors Golden Wedding of Mr and Mrs Ted Shook

A Christian church in Henderson hosts an open house on Sunday November 16 to honor the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Shook. Their children will welcome friends and relatives from 2 to 5 pm and request no gifts.

Malvern 39ers Club Holds Pre Thanksgiving Dinner

The Malvern 39ers Senior Citizen Club hosted a Thanksgiving dinner with 52 members at the Community building. The meal featured turkey dressing potatoes and gravy with hot rolls provided by Nishna Cottage and other members supplying the rest. Cards and bingo followed the meal. The November birthday meeting is set for Tuesday November 18.

Fourteen residents enjoyed the senior citizens dinner on Thursday and welcomed Hayden Clark of Glenwood as a new resident. Joe Munsinger attended a birthday dinner at Allen Carlson's in Tabor with all his children and grandchildren present. Ostomates to Meet: Southwestern Iowa Ostomy Association holds a meeting on Sunday November 16 at 2 p.m. at Atlantic Gospel Chapel inviting ostomates and spouses.
