Malvern Couple Celebrates Golden Anniversary in Nebr

Former Malvernians Paul and Mrs Norton of 7210 Lexington Ave Lincoln Nebr observe their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house at St Mark's DAR. DAR members in Glenwood Chapter met for luncheon at the Brick Inn Tabor then toured Todd House in Tabor and the Sidney Historical Museum.

Thanksgiving Service Date Set by Inter-Church Council

Inter-church council met at Nancy Mulholland home with Rev. Charles Cowell and members from Baptist and United Methodist churches. Thanksgiving services will be Sunday, Nov. 21 at 7 30 p.m. in the Baptist church. Food for baskets may be delivered starting this Sunday via entry boxes at each church. Plans for Christmas Eve services and Bible school were also discussed.

Thanksgiving Meeting Notes At LTN Club Host Home

The November meeting of the LTN Club was hosted by Mrs. Ted Bowen with twenty members present including visitor Sherri Bowen. President Mrs. Ralph Bower led the session with October minutes read, a fall poem by Margaret Buttmann, and two quiz games. A Thanksgiving theme centered the table and lunch, with hostesses Mrs. Harry Stewart and Mrs. Bowen. The December meeting will be a potluck luncheon at Mrs. Ray Trivelys home with each member bringing a covered dish table service and a gift for the exchange.

Arno Asmussen To Mark 35th Wedding Anniversary

Mr and Mrs Arno Asmussen of Glenwood plan a 35th wedding anniversary on Friday November 19 at the Glenwood National Guard Armory. A 7 pm reception will precede an 8 30 pm dance. No invitations are sent and friends and relatives are welcome. Gifts are requested not to be given.

Malvern UMW met Nov 4 with 26 present at the church. Hosts were Marjorie Dashner, Lois Hering, and Ruth Darrah. President Jessie Wearin opened with a Thanksgiving prayer and noted local student interest in the national election.

Heirlooms Underfoot Ladies Rug Making Program

The Mills County Extension Service hosts a Nov 17 program at the Malvern Community building with Barbara Buffington demonstrating braided hooked and knotted rug techniques. A $1 materials fee covers supplies as participants learn and practice rug making for home use.

Veterans Day Dinner Held by American Legion Post 520

American Legion Harry Hammons Post 520 and Auxiliary hosted the Veterans Day Dinner on November 7 with 35 attendees. Officers and chairmen from multiple districts attended, including Dean Brown and Ross Becker. The event featured Virginia Hall’s reading and Flo Bell guitar numbers. Les Eddy chaired the Oratorical Contest efforts, urging Mills County schools to participate. The organization seeks 11 more Legion and 3 Auxiliary members for 107 percent. Eligibility dates span 1917 to 1973. A reception for Department Vice President Bonnie Perrin is planned for November 14 from 2 to 6 p.m. A Neola workshop on November 29 and a district meeting in Emerson on November 30 are announced.

BPW Meeting Reports Projects and Flu Clinic Plans

Malvern BPW Club met Monday at Hillsdale church with 19 members and three guests. District officers from Clarinda attended. Reports covered the Fall District meeting in Council Bluffs on Oct. 7. The club will assist with a flu vaccine clinic Oct. 20 from 1 to 6 p.m. A skit closed the meeting led by members. Joann Poort, secretary.
