Community ladies host luncheon and visits across towns

St Vernon community notes Mrs Clifford Wolfe hosted a Wednesday luncheon honoring Mrs Gayle Van Horn of Olympia Wash and Mrs Reiman of Mercer Island Wash with other guests bidding farewell. Visiting guests include Mrs Rodenburg and Mrs Benton. Several members traveled to Mesa Ariz for the winter months.

Tom Kingery Hosts Halloween Party at Home

Halloween was celebrated with a 4 Tacky Clothes Party Saturday evening at the Kingery home. Guests included Mr and Mrs Jack Haney Mr and Mrs Floyd Blackman Mr and Mrs Elmer Haney Linda and guests Beverly and Diane Blackman Dan Myera Dannell and Roger. Pumpkin pie with whipped cream and coffee were the refreshments.

Birthday Club gathers for Mrs Parker birthday

The Birthday Club met Tuesday afternoon to honor Mrs. Leonard Parker on her Wednesday birthday with visiting members and gifts. Extra visits include families and friends from nearby towns, MYF activities, and Halloween events at Hillsdale church, with several Sunday and Monday gatherings noted.

Chantry School Hosts Annual Halloween Parade

On Friday October 30 Chantry school held its annual youngster Halloween party with students in a wide range of costumes from hoboes and hula dancers to black cats witches and a tiger lost his stripes. After parading through classrooms they returned to their rooms for small parties highlighting the festive spirit of the holiday.

American Literature Class Plans Next Study Topics

The American Literature class at MHS under Mrs. Ruth Salyers studies essays and articles this week and will continue next week. Having just finished the American novel, the class will begin biography after completing essays and articles.

Photographer Visits Malvern Schools Puts Hair In Place

Photographer Bill Oliver from Delmar studios spent morning at the grade school and afternoon at the junior high and high school capturing individual pictures. Seniors who already had senior portraits may choose to retake or not. Students will receive photos before Christmas.

Malvern Student Field Trip to Water Plant

Malvern senior science class and instructor Supt Crink visited the Malvern water plant on October 30. They learned water moves from six automatic wells to the plant, pumped to 90 gallons per minute to a 65 000 gallon tower, and are shown chlorination. The class was told daily water use is about 100 100 gallons.

MHS Girls to FHA Meet at Hamburg

Hamburg hosted over 100 Future Homemakers of America members for a district meeting drawing 24 Malvern girls led by sponsor Mrs. Cleta Salyers. The program featured Helen Davisson on her Turkey trip with slides, and afternoon business included reports on the Chicago national convention and installation of new district officers.

Malvern Girl Named to Beacon Organization

Karen Deitchler, a 1958 Malvern High School graduate, was named to the Beacon Organization on the Town State University campus in Ames. The group honors sophomore women for activities and scholarship, with 26 members selected this year.

Two Malvern students receive scholastic recognition. At Wentworth Military Academy Lexington Missouri James Saldyers earned a dean's honor roll spot for the fall six weeks. At Wesleyan University Middle town Connecticut Bill Wortman earned a dean's list honor for the past semester.

Malvern Leader Photo Club Returns With Fresh Faces

The MHS Photo Club met October 29 with fourteen students enrolled, up from twelve last year. Seven upperclassmen return, while seven freshmen join. Principal Al Nothem will lead the group again, assigning newcomers to the five upperclassmen who oversee darkroom sessions and demonstrate procedures.
